Corafax-CV comprises of cefuroxime which treats a wide variety of infections caused by bacteria. It is a cephalosporin antibiotic and works by inhibiting the bacterial cell growth.
MECHANISM of ACTION: –
CORAFAX-CV (CEFUROXIME AXETIL 500 MG + POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE 125 MG) has a broad spectrum of activity against common pathogens. It produces its bactericidal action by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefuroxime binds to the target proteins which is responsible for the bacterial replication.
Clavulanic acid is a naturally derived beta lactamase inhibitor produced by Streptomyces clavuligerus. Clavulanic acid binds to and inactivates them thus preventing the destruction of cefuroxime that is a substrate for this enzyme.
INDICATIONS: –
CORAFAX-CV (CEFUROXIME AXETIL 500 MG + POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE 125 MG)is indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms in the conditions listed below:
Cefuroxime Axetil and Potassium Clavulanate Tablets come under the branding CORAFAX-CV. Cefuroxime Axetil and Potassium Clavulanate Tablets is a group of two antibiotics CEFUROXIME AXETIL 500 MG + POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE 125 MG. Cefuroxime acts by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering which is crucial for survival. Thus, they destroyed the bacteria. Clavulanic acid works by reducing bacterial resistance and enhancing the activity of cefuroxime against the bacteria. Together, Cefuroxime Axetil and Potassium Clavulanate Tablets help to treat bacterial infections.
