Disodium citrate helps maintain uric acid levels in the body by increasing urination. It is also used as an acidity regulator and sequestrant and hence it is used to increase the effects of other antioxidants.

It enhances the elimination of salicylates and barbiturates present in the body. In addition it retains sodium which is due to corticosteroids. Potentiates renal excretion of tetracycline.Hypochloraemic alkalosis may occur with concomitant K-depleting diuretics.

INDICATIONS: –

This medication is used to make the urine less acidic.

This medication helps to excrete the acid through urine which helps the kidneys get rid of uric acid, by this one can prevent gout and certain type of kidney stones.

This medication can also prevent and treat certain metabolic problems (acidosis) caused by kidney disease.
